Yesterday, Easter Sunday, I had the privilege of attending the wedding of my friend Ted Lennon, and his soul mate, Amber Dawn. It was one of the most spirit-filled, loving ceremonies I have seen in my life. Wow. Held at the top of Meher Mount, Meher Baba's retreat in Ojai, California, Ted and Amber exchanged their vows yards away from a famous oak tree that Krishnamurti and others had once come to sit under. That morning the valley was swept by these beautiful tiny butterflies, who seemed to all have been born at once, in a quantity that noone who had been living there had seen before. Overlooking a luscious valley, and surrounded by family and friends and music, everyone was so swept up by the romance and emotion of this union that there was not a dry eye in the party. Thank you Ted for inviting me, I love you and your family, you all are an inspiration.

Studio 360 - Studio 360 is a new national radio show about arts and culture, hosted by novelist and journalist Kurt Andersen and produced by Public Radio International and WNYC. Current issues, events and trends in art are a jumping off point for an exploration of ideas that aren't necessarily "news," yet are provocative and offer a lens on experience that only art can provide. Studio 360 presents richly textured and emotionally resonant stories that look at art's creative influence and transformative power in everyday life.

ontology

1. <philosophy> A systematic account of Existence.

2. <artificial intelligence> (From philosophy) An explicit
formal specification of how to represent the objects, concepts
and other entities that are assumed to exist in some area of
interest and the relationships that hold among them.

For AI systems, what "exists" is that which can be
represented. When the knowledge about a domain is
represented in a declarative language, the set of objects
that can be represented is called the universe of discourse.
We can describe the ontology of a program by defining a set of
representational terms. Definitions associate the names of
entities in the universe of discourse (e.g. classes,
relations, functions or other objects) with human-readable
text describing what the names mean, and formal axioms that
constrain the interpretation and well-formed use of these
terms. Formally, an ontology is the statement of a logical
theory
.

A set of agents that share the same ontology will be able to
communicate about a domain of discourse without necessarily
operating on a globally shared theory. We say that an agent
commits to an ontology if its observable actions are
consistent with the definitions in the ontology. The idea of
ontological commitment is based on the Knowledge-Level
perspective.

3. <information science> The hierarchical structuring of
knowledge about things by subcategorising them according to
their essential (or at least relevant and/or cognitive)
qualities. See subject index. This is an extension of the
previous senses of "ontology" (above) which has become common
in discussions about the difficulty of maintaining subject
indices
.

Ashé online
Journal of Experimental Spirituality

In the beginning was Ashé. Ashé was everything.
When Ashé began to think, Ashé became Olodumare.*
- Yoruban creation myth

Ashé is an Afro-Caribbean word for spirit or life-force. It describes the energy which inhabits all people, animals, plants and objects. Ashé is a singular force which is everywhere differentiated into the myth of duality. Ashé is similar to the Sanskrit prana or the Chinese Ch'i. Ashé initiated humanity's primordial origins and stands now as its source. Ashé is more than simple energy; it is similar to the Buddhist concept of Bodhicitta and Karma. Good things happen to one because one has Ashé, bad things because one lacks it.

Ashé is the priestess dancing herself toward possession. Ashé is the thread that weaves itself into the infinite blanket of meditative equipoise. Ashé is the hermit lighting a candle for the great mother; the group coming together in geometric power for common purpose; the drag queen sitting in vipassana before a performance; the homeless teen talking to Buddha beneath the overpass sheltering rain and dharma.

Ashé is a primordial blend of Prana, Qi, Karma, Dharma, Prem,
Agape, Will, and Bodhicitta.

Ashé is the ultimate source of everything.*
