Podcasting

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.

The term podcasting plays upon the terms broadcasting and webcasting and is derived from the name of the iPod portable music player, the playback device of choice of many early podcast listeners. Podcasting is not directly associated with Apple's iPod device or iTunes jukebox software. Podcasting is similar to time-shifted video software and devices like TiVo, which let you watch what you want when you want by recording and storing video, except that podcasting is used for audio and is currently free of charge. Note, however, that this technology can be used to pull any kind of file, including software updates, pictures, and videos.

In short, podcasting involves the recording of internet radio or similar internet audio programs. These recordings are then made available for download to portable digital audio device. You can listen to the podcast internet radio program while you are away from your computer or at a different time than the original program was broadcast.

3 men in a sauna

Three men - a Doctor, an Investment Banker and a Programmer - were sitting naked in a sauna.

Suddenly there was a beeping sound. The Doctor pressed his forearm and the beep stopped. The others looked at him questioningly.

"That was my pager," he said. "I have a microchip under the skin of my arm."

A few minutes later a phone rang.

The Investment Banker fellow lifted his palm to his ear. When he finished, he
explained, "That was my mobile phone. I have a microchip in my hand."

The Programmer felt decidedly low tech and, not wanting to be outdone, he
decided he had to do something just as impressive. He stepped out of the
sauna and went to the bathroom. He returned with a piece of toilet paper
hanging from his behind. The others raised their eyebrows and stared at him.

The Programmer finally said, "Well, will you look at that. I'm getting a fax."

Our very own Magali, who spends half the year in Rio, got a write up in "O Dia" online:

MAGALI, 40, CANTORA

translation:
She obtained a work visa in the USA for "specialized ability in samba", and has had success stateside singing everything from classic sambas to forrós by Jackson do Pandeiro. In the Big Apple, she recorded a CD with Umbanda invocations (that would be our Orixás CD), and is the lead singer of Samba New York. In Rio, she composes and sings for the samba groups Quizomba, Monobloco, and Empolga às 9. Tomorrow, Magali stars in the samba party with Empolga, at the Odisséia Theatre.

Nereci....
Quando o mar levou
Teria sido traição
Será que
Na maré de hoje
Ela virá
Rainha do mar
Além de
Todos além
Além do mar
Além do além mar
Nereci alguém
Do azul está
